“Then we realized that the industrial corridor of Toluca Valley It is a place where these things mostly happen, and we started to imagine a story that would take place in that place, because in addition, it is a familiar place to us, which is not common in portraits in the cinema,” said the director, in an interview. with this medium.
Monster tells the story of Toluca Valley, who gather in a kind of shed in the industrial corridor to get high and dream outside of reality, but everything will change when Alex disappears and his friend must face real life, beyond chemicals.
“We wanted to make a story that spoke of a crude awakening, which is also why we decided that they were teenagers and made it clear that reality is often not what one believes or expects, and on the contrary, it is much more aggressive,” he highlighted. Escamilla.
