Thanjavur: A mother and daughter came to the collector’s office with a can of kerosene to submit a petition demanding the return of their native property from the encroaching private party. After inspecting the entry gate of the Collector’s office, they were allowed to enter to file the petition. A public grievance meeting was held yesterday in Thanjavur Collector’s office under the leadership of Collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver. As many of the petitioners came to the meeting with kerosene cans, the police allowed all those who came to present the petitions to submit their petitions only after checking them at the entrance gate of the collector’s office.

In this case, Panneerselvam’s wife Vasanthi and daughter Sathya from Pattukottai Letsathoppu area came to file a petition. Then the police saw that there was a can of kerosene in the bag they had brought and confiscated it at the door. Then they were given instructions and sent to file a petition. Later, both the mother and the daughter stated in the petition given in the collector’s office: My husband Panneerselvam decided to sell the property that belonged to him in 2009. Subsequently, he had written a “public authority document” on trust to a person from Pattukottai.

Following this, the person encroached on our property. As a result, my husband canceled the Public Power of Attorney. Meanwhile my husband Panneerselvam died. The person has encroached on our property by concealing the fact that the authority document has been cancelled. Actions should be taken to recover our properties. This is stated in the petition.
