A newborn baby girl was left at the Red Cross in Bergamo, Italy, with a heartbreaking letter written by her mother, which demonstrates the plight of many women in the European country.

Precisely, several headquarters of that institution have created the so-called “crib for life”, which is actually a mailbox where, instead of letters, babies are deposited. This in order to safeguard the lives of newborns whose mothers do not want to have them.

The idea of the authorities is to avoid tragic scenarios such as the one that occurred days before at Caritas in Milan, which shocked the entire country, when the Police found a dead newborn inside a container.

Now they hope that the future of little Noemí, the name given to her by the Red Cross staff, will be very different from that of the little girl from Milan.

According to the report, it was at 5 pm this Wednesday when the “cradle for life” alarm sounded. It is a sound similar to the doorbell of a house, however, according to what they told the media The world isit is common for someone to open the crib, sometimes out of curiosity or as a joke, and activate the alarm.

But, in this case, they found the little girl and immediately activated the protocols, and gave her a medical check-up to confirm her state of health.

The doorbell rang again and, checking the mailbox, they found a letter with the following message:

“Born this morning, 5/3/2023, at home. Just her and me, like in these nine months. I wish you all the good and happiness in the world. A kiss forever from mom. I trust you with an important piece of my life that I will certainly never forget.”

The newspaper reports that the letter was read aloud and without holding back tears by Maurizio Bonomi, president of the Red Cross committee.

Little Noemí weighs 2.9 kilos and is in good health, due to her features she could be of South American descent.

“Her vital parameters were perfect, the umbilical cord cut well, maybe she was just hungry because she kept sucking her little hand,” said Antonella Matta, the first responder who attended her and chose her name with a hospital emergency obstetrician.

“The baby was beautiful, groomed and very well cared for. I wouldn’t have minded a fourth girl,” she said smiling at The world is Matta, who has three daughters.

The “cradle of life” is a padded mailbox that is heated and has a first-aid kit that is restocked immediately, it also has a resuscitation kit in case of emergency.

When the window is opened, the alarm and the camera are activated. In personnel, it guarantees absolute confidentiality to the mother or whoever deposits the baby.

“It was a very strong emotion, just like the message of love that the mother left later, from which the awareness of not being able to give the child a future really emerges,” said Bonomi, who added that this is the first time that a mother deposits her baby in this specific mailbox.
