The mother of the 3- and 10-year-old sisters, who were victims of an arson attack in their own home, in Sidrolândia, 71 km from the Capital, stated that her ex-boyfriend, the main suspect in the crime, with whom the woman was with for three months , did not accept the end of the relationship.

“We had fights, but he never showed that he would do anything against me or my daughters. We didn’t expect something like that to happen”, commented the victims’ mother, in a press conference, on Saturday afternoon (9), at Santa Casa de Campo Grande, where the children are hospitalized in a very serious condition.

According to her, the breakup happened two weeks ago. During the press conference, the girl’s mother also highlighted that they had disagreements in the relationship, but they never filed police reports. “I broke up and said I wasn’t going back. Since I said I was going to cut off the relationship, he hasn’t threatened me. This is what happened.”

Furthermore, she reiterated that she believes that her ex-boyfriend is the perpetrator of the crime, as a man with the same descriptions was seen at the scene. “He said he saw a tall boy come out of a field, behind our house, and that he had a motorcycle in front of the house. They said that this man asked what was happening and left.”

To the police, the suspect stated that he had left a party and passed through his ex-girlfriend’s neighborhood. “He stated that he was at a party and that at the end, he passed through the neighborhood and, as he passed in front of my house, he stopped to urinate and left. But this has no context, because the route to his house has nothing to do with along the way to my house. He also knew that I wasn’t home at that time, because I was at work”, explains the victims’ mother.

According to the mother, the children’s health is delicate. The 11-year-old girl has 70% of her body burned and both have severe head trauma due to previous attacks. “The doctors said the condition is serious.”

The children were rescued and are hospitalized at Santa Casa, in a very serious condition, in an induced coma. The suspect is still in custody and the investigation is being carried out by the municipal police station where the crime took place.

Night of the crime – The case happened in the early hours of this Friday (8), on Rua General Pinho, in Bairro São Bento, in Sidrolândia, a municipality that is 70 km from Campo Grande. According to the girls’ mother, she left for work on Thursday (7), at around 11pm, the time when her shift begins at the food industry unit, and left the children at home watching television.

She reports that, despite normally being under the care of a nanny, that day, the girls chose to stay at home. When leaving, the mother left the residence open, with the gate locked.

They always had someone to take care of, but on that day, they wanted to watch TV. The youngest wanted it too. I left them, but it wasn’t abandonment, because I had to go to work and I was monitoring them”, comments the mother of the minors.

The mother also told the press that the house is equipped with security cameras, operating via Wi-Fi. During work hours, she monitored the children through these cameras and until 00:20, she did not observe anything unusual. It was only at 1:10 am that she received the news through neighbors.

“He [vizinho] he pushed the gate and started calling the other neighbors to help. Then, a neighbor came out and grabbed my little daughter. They saw that she had a huge cut on her head.”

Upon entering the house, the neighbor found the 3-year-old girl in bed, with her body on fire, and the older girl on the sofa, also on fire, both with serious head injuries.

According to the children’s mother, during this period, the power to the house was turned off, and the cameras did not record who set the fire. “At that time, the standard was off, so we lost the images from the cameras. We only have images until 00:27, from then on I didn’t record, because there was no Wi-Fi.”

Witnesses reported seeing a man leaving a field next to the house, getting on a motorcycle parked in front of the residence. Other neighbors questioned the man, who claimed to be urinating and then left without providing assistance.
