The mother of Cuban political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástegui reported that she was recently threatened by State Security.

In this regard, Yindra Elizástigui Jardines stated that the agent who harassed her demanded that she stop fighting for her son’s freedom “or she would face the consequences.”

Luis Robles’ mother said that the incident occurred last Friday after she went to El Pitirre prison to settle a “pending matter at the El 18 camp,” where her son was held before being transferred to La Lima.

The Cuban woman explained that upon her return home she spoke to a motorcyclist who was near a bus she had taken by mistake, and explained to him where she was going. The man then told her that he could take her to the Virgen del Carmino in San Miguel del Padrón for 150 pesos.

When he took her to the Virgen del Camino, the driver invited Yindra to “a snack” and although she refused, he insisted until she agreed. Later, the man (a State Security agent) told Luis Robles’ mother his full name and identified her as the mother of the political prisoner who “daringly left on December 4.”

“He mentioned everything about my son Luis. I asked him who he was and he told me ‘a person who has the authority to do what I’m doing’. The first thing I thought of was State Security,” the mother of the political prisoner explained to the independent media outlet CubaNet.

The Castro official then suggested to Luis Robles’ mother that she stop fighting for her son’s freedom, because otherwise the consequences would be prison for him.

They also reminded her that they are watching her and that they know every step she takes.

“I told him that I do not accept threats from anyone and as far as I know I am not committing any crime. The only thing I am doing and will do until my son is free is to demand his freedom and to denounce as long as something is done against my son. He will have to kill me to shut me up,” added Elizástigui Jardines.

Faced with this situation, Luis Robles’ mother blamed the Castro regime for what might happen to her son in prison.
