Moto GP: Fabio Quartararo second in qualifying in the Netherlands

by time news

Fabio Quartararo confirms his great form. The leader of the Moto GP world championship is currently having a very good start to the weekend in Assen (Netherlands), which hosts the 11th Grand Prix of the season. This Saturday, during qualifying, the Frenchman from Yamaha set the second fastest time. He will therefore start in the front row, sandwiched between the two Ducatis of Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia.

To take pole, his second in a row, the latter quite simply broke the track record, thus beating his French rival by a tenth. The other Habs in form at the moment, Johann Zarco, took seventh place in qualifying. He could nevertheless offer a comeback in the race of which he has the secret, as was the case last week in Germany, where he was only beaten by the inevitable Quartararo.

Last year, it was already Quartararo who won in Assen, flying towards the title of world champion. A good result that he would like to imitate this Sunday (2 p.m.), when he already has a 34-point lead over his close pursuer in the drivers’ classification, the Spaniard Aleix Espargaro, who will start in fifth position.
