Moto Guzzi Veloce, an exquisite handmade Italian cafe-racer

by time news

In the world of two wheels, the best motorcycle is the one that each one builds. All bikers idealize their perfect machine, but they have no choice but to accept what the brands bring. Unless you have money, time and a desire to complicate your head, even for a dream. It is the case of Massimo, an Italian osteopath and physiotherapist who shows off his motorcycle and Instagram.

As a good Italian, he is also a Guzzista through and through. He is crazy about Moto Guzzi, but always with a ‘but’: that he wanted a tailor-made one. So he set to work to create his particular ‘rara avis’ in the form of a Moto Guzzi, whose last name is ‘Veloce’ and which is based on his own work and design of which you will never see two identical models as Pipe Burn collects.

It is a unique café racer, although it had to be born from a donor. so Massimo bought a Moto Guzzi Bellagio to use as a base, and with the firm intention of not modifying the frame of the original motorcycle, since it had the perfect lines to make his project. He went to some workshops to help him create a motorcycle “sporty but drivable and safe” and ended up joining two Italian brothers, the Guareschi.

Little by little they were shaping the motorcycle that Massimo designed on paper, using 2mm aircraft-grade aluminum without the aid of modern machinery or 3D body software. Then, the rest of the parts such as the tank, tail, fenders, side panels… the tank has one of the most spectacular shapes of the motorcycle, with a marked space to house the rider’s legs and knees.

One of the most special points that he wanted dedicate to the motorcycle is the LED rear light. The tail dilutes in a focal point as a light that pretends to be a synthesis between the old and the modern. Although without a doubt the most difficult job was coupling the body to the original frame. He also built a perfectly fitting seat, handcrafted, without sacrificing ergonomics.

The engine is a separate case, because it is not the serial one. Originally it was the 935cc V-twin engine; the Guareschi brothers they increased the displacement to 1,105 ccand they undertook a great internal work with new pistons, competition cams, they polished cylinder heads, intake, valves, exhaust, they made a new lubrication system…

Total, that this impressive cafe racer It went from giving 75 to 101.2 CV. 35% more power with a torque of 107 Nm, accompanied by a smooth clutch, synthesized discs and reinforced springs. They also did not forget the cycle part, with new suspensions, wheels and brakes. From Öhlins forks to Brembo brakes and 17-inch spoke wheels with Pirelli tires, this bike doesn’t miss a single detail.

They even installed a TFT screen to keep it up to date. It has taken time, because it took them four years to have the project ready, since 2017. Of course, now it is a dream for a lifetime. Here are some more photos of the model:
