MotoGP: second in Argentina, Zarco made the show

by time news

Johann Zarco is still looking for the first victory of his career in MotoGP. But the Ducati Pramac rider is setting the slopes on fire at the start of the season. Fourth in Portugal where he had already made a crazy end of race, he finished 2nd in the GP of Argentina this Sunday evening after a crazy comeback.

In the deluge, Zarco flew on Rio Honda’s soggy Termas track. Relegated to 8th place on the 5th lap, the Cannes native swallowed up his competitors one by one (Jack Miller, Alex Rins and Fabio di Giannantonio) to end his race with a magnificent overtaking on the last lap over Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini) who allowed him to snatch this beautiful 2nd place. Only Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati), who had taken too much of a lead, was untouchable against an unleashed Zarco.

“Bezzecchi was super strong all weekend. For me, we take and we continue to move forward, in the dry as in the rain, to succeed in improving even more”, underlined Zarco at the microphone of Canal +.

The Italian achieves the first success of his career in MotoGP. This is Zarco’s 16th podium in the premier category. He is in 3rd place in the World Championship standings.

Like Zarco, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha Factory) also made a good comeback. After contact with the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami on the first lap, he left in 16th position. But the Yamaha Factory rider came back well and crossed the line in 7th position.
