The MotoGP fever doesn’t stop and now it’s also jumping on the big screen. In 2025 we will see him on the big screen the first Spanish film set in the MotoGP paddock, “Ídolos”, starring two of the most popular faces of the new generation of Spanish actors, Óscar Casas – brother of Mario Casas – and the singer and actress Ana Mena
The film will be an explosive cocktail of speed, passion and raw emotions. The protagonist is Edu, played by Óscar Casas, a young motorcycle racer with a lot of talent, but also with a somewhat explosive character. He’s the kind of character that teams don’t trust for even one lap, because they know he’ll be in trouble as soon as he crosses the finish line.
However, life gives you a second chance when Eli, the fictional team manager of the Aspar Team Moto2decides to trust him. But, of course, everything has a price, and in this case it is that Edu’s coach is none other than his father, Antonio Belardi, a former driver who fell into disgrace after an accident that ended the life of another driver a competition. It seems that history will show us Casas on the rise in the championship, and if we believe the photos he has shared these days, It looks like he will race for PRAMAC Ducati at some point in the film.
The drama here is not just the speed and the turns, but the broken relationship between father and son. Edu hates his father for abandoning himbut he also knows that without their help he doesn’t have much chance of succeeding in MotoGP. To complicate everything a little further, training with his father is not only physical, but emotional: he must put aside every distraction, including love. But… how will he achieve this if he meets Luna, a very interesting young artist (played by Ana Mena), who has just opened a tattoo studio right under his house?
Many people think of another film by Oscar’s older brother, Mario Casas, “Three Meters Above the Sky” (the film that marked an era among teenagers in 2010), but now with motorcycles and more speed. It is no coincidence that it is compared to that film, because “Ídolos” also plays with the theme of impossible love and personal drama, but this time with the world of motorcycling in the background.

The direction will be entrusted to the English Matt Whitecrosswho, although he is best known for his work in music documentaries (he has worked with Coldplay, Oasis and even the legendary Rolling Stones), already has several awards under his belt, including a Silver Bear in Berlin.
The screenplay is the work of Jordi Gasullwhich has already given us successes like The Adventures of Tadeo Jones or Capture the Flag, so the story will be in good hands. Together with him, Inma Cánovas and Ricky Roxburgh (winner of a Daytime Emmy), complete the creative team. Come on, they’re putting all their effort into making this production something more than just a motorcycle movie.

In addition to Casas and Mena, Ídolos has an international cast that includes big names like the Italian Claudio Santamariawhich will give that touch of seriousness and drama to the story, and to the Spanish Enrico Arce (yes, Arturo from “La Casa de Papel”). We will also see young talents such as Saul Nanni and the Italian rapper and actor Simone Baldasseroni.

The fact that MotoGP is actively involved in the film guarantees this We will see scenes filmed in real locations of this electrifying World Cup. While we don’t yet know if any real MotoGP riders will appear, it’s likely that there will be cameos or moments where die-hard motorcycling fans can identify tracks or even riders. Additionally, filming will take place in Spain, Italy and other countries, ensuring a mix of iconic landscapes and circuits. If all goes well, the film will be released in 2025, with distribution by Warner Bros. Spain.
