Jonas Folger finished the MotoGP race at the US Grand Prix in the points. The 29-year-old Bavarian started as a substitute for the injured Spaniard Pol Espargaro, benefited from the high failure rate and was classified twelfth.

Only 13 of the 22 drivers were able to finish the race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Stefan Bradl (Honda), who took over the works Honda from ex-world champion Marc Marquez from Spain, was on course for eleventh place, but crashed in the state of Texas shortly before the end of the race.

Spaniard Alex Rins (Honda) prevailed against Italian Luca Marini (Ducati). The podium was completed by Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) from France. Italy’s Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) finished sixth, extending his championship lead. Lukas Tulovic retired from the Moto2 World Championship race shortly after the start. The 22-year-old from Eberbach drove his first race of the current season in Austin. Tulovic missed the first two Grand Prix due to injury. The German hopeful started the race from position 23 and crashed on the first lap.
