Motorola Frontier leaks with world’s first 200MP camera

by time news

Motorola has made a notable return to the leading segment with the Motorola Edge X30. The device was rebranded as Motorola Edge 30 Pro and sailed to western markets recently. The phone brought advanced features such as proper fast charging, an impressive 144Hz OLED display, and first-generation Snapdragon 8. It might look like Motorola’s ultimate flagship for 2022, however, and rumors have indicated that’s not exactly an issue. The company already has another flagship for 2022, and it will be even more impressive than the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. The rumored device is codenamed Motorola Frontier and will offer great specs like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus and a 200MP ISOCELL HP1 camera. Today, a new leak gives us our first glimpse at the phone.

We’ve already seen the Motorola Frontier through the leaked renders. The device features an “expressive” design with curved edges, a hole in the middle, and a rectangular camera island. At first glance, the camera design looked strange. However, today’s leak gives us a real look at the back of the device. He-She confirms the phone as the world’s first 200MP camera smartphone. Moreover, it serves to show that the phone is not as ugly as the rendering suggested.

Motorola Frontier – The world’s first 200MP camera smartphone

The Motorola Frontier has a huge rectangular opening for the triple camera setup. At the top, the massive camera module is a 200 MP sensor. There is a sticker on the camera island confirming it is a 200MP HP1 sensor with OIS and f/2.2 aperture. According to details from Samsung, the 200MP sensor can act as several different sensors. This comes as a result of the redistribution algorithm based on deep learning.

The Samsung 200 MP HP1 can perform 2 x 2 pixel binning, resulting in 50 MP shots with an effective pixel size of 1.28 µm. There is also a 4×4 binning mode with a 16-pixel sensor that results in a single large pixel equivalent to a resolution of 12.5 megapixels and 2.56 µm pixels. IT can shoot up to 8K video at 30 frames per second with the field of view reduced as little as possible.

Alleged specifications

Motorola Frontier will bring a 6.67-inch curved screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The device will reuse the Edge X30’s 60MP selfie snapper. Under the hood, the phone will bring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus which suggests the H2 release 2022. The phone comes in variants with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. Rumors say that it will be powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 125W charging. A few days ago, the CEO of Lenovo tapped into a 125W Motorola charger which confirms our belief. The device will also pack a wireless charger that will range between 30W and 50W. The reason behind this “variable” wireless charging is yet to be confirmed.

We expect more details to continue to emerge as the launch is rumored to happen in July. Besides the Motorola Frontier, the company will also introduce the Lenovo Legion in the coming months.
