Mountain west Dominance: Fresno State, Nevada Athletes Claim Weekly Honors in Swimming & Diving

A stellar week of performances in women’s swimming adn diving has resulted in three athletes being recognized by the Mountain West Conference, announced Tuesday. Mackenzie Miller Lung of Fresno State earned Swimmer of the Week, Bailey Heydra of Nevada was named Diver of the Week, and my Pholjamjumrus, also from Nevada, secured Freshman of the Week honors.

Why did these athletes receive recognition? The Mountain West Conference recognized these three athletes for their outstanding performances during the week of competition, specifically in a dual meet between Fresno State and Nevada. Miller Lung broke records, Heydra dominated diving, and Pholjamjumrus excelled as a freshman.

Miller lung Shatters Records for Fresno State

Senior Mackenzie Miller Lung of Fresno State delivered a record-breaking performance against conference rival Nevada, solidifying her position as a force in the Mountain West. She swam to new Aquatics Center and Fresno State records in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Miller Lung clocked a time of 58.33, not only breaking the pool, program, and Mountain West records but also surpassing her previous NCAA qualifying standard of 59.44. This time currently ranks as the fastest in the mountain West and the 10th fastest nationally this season. She followed this up with a 200-yard breaststroke time of 2:07.78, breaking both the pool and program records and securing another NCAA qualification. That time leads the Mountain West and is the third-fastest in the nation.

miller Lung’s remarkable showing extended beyond individual events, as she placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard medley relay, and second in the 400-yard free relay. This marks the second time this season she has been honored as the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week.

Heydra Leads Nevada to victory

Nevada senior Bailey Heydra played a pivotal role in the Wolf Pack’s dual victory over Fresno State, dominating the diving events. Heydra won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, exceeding the NCAA Zone qualifying standard in both. She scored 295.66 on the 1-meter and 324.05 on the 3-meter, both of which were the highest scores in the Mountain West this week.

This is Heydra’s second consecutive Mountain West Diver of the Week award and the fourth of her career, demonstrating consistent excellence throughout her collegiate career.

Who is bailey Heydra? bailey Heydra is a senior diver for the University of Nevada, Reno. She led her team to victory against Fresno State by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and has been recognized as Mountain West Diver of the Week multiple times.

Pholjamjumrus Makes Waves as a Freshman

Nevada freshman My Pholjamjumrus is quickly making a name for herself in the Mountain West, setting pool records in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.35) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:13.84). Her performance in the 200-yard butterfly earned her an NCAA qualification.
