The dilemma that the Pachakutik Plurinational Unity movement has not presented a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador in the next elections to be held in August, has created a confrontation with the adherents that make up this political organization.
Situation. Movement without a candidate, lives a tense environment, as a result of this situation, the political leaders Leonidas Iza and Marlon Santi, national coordinator of the entity, find themselves in the problem of who exercises control of the organization.
Sepal. For her part, Martha Simbaña, a member of the Pachakutik movement, indicated: “it has become visible that, due to not meeting various requirements, it has not been possible to register due to some requirements such as the candidacy of Leonidas Iza Salazar as president.”
Reality. In this way, also with reference to the candidates for the Assembly, he stated: “I am aware that there is only one list headed by former assemblyman Vanegas, who is leading and is in the registration process.”
