Saturday 19 August in the App, Sunday 20 August on the newsstands, the supplement with a special on the Venice Film Festival and a conversation on the armistice 80 years later. Extra digital: the literature dedicated to borders

The looks of cinema on damnations and victims, beauties and tragedies of the planet: with a special dedicated to the 80th Venice Film Festival, which will take place from 30 August to 9 September, the new issue of «la Lettura» opens, the # 612, Saturday 19 August in the App and Sunday 20 August at the newsstand.

As many as four films, in the various screenings of the festival, bring vampires to the screen, as illustrated by Cecilia Bressanelli’s service: among these, El Conde by Pablo Larraín shows a vampire Pinochet, symbol of all injustices.

Laura Zangarini writes about the film L’expérience Zola by Gianluca Matarrese, while the director Morzaniel Iramari, of the Yanomami ethnic group, tells Angelo Ferracuti about his Amazonia, to which the Exhibition dedicates a focus. The director Agnieszka Holland then illustrates to Stefania Ulivi her Zielona Granica, on human trafficking on the border between Poland and Belarus. And in the App of «la Lettura» on Saturday 19 August an extra by Simone Innocenti is dedicated to the border in literature, while on Sunday 20 another focus, by Vincenzo Trione, will be on the theme of the border in the visual arts.

Eighty years ago, the armistice of 8 September 1943 was signed. On how it was managed, the conversation between the historians Elena Aga Rossi, Filippo Focardi and Alessandra Tarquini, edited by Antonio Carioti; in addition, the interventions of the philologist Donatella Puliga and the historian Marco Cuzzi.

Among the books, Viviana Mazza’s interview with the writer Gay Talese, who at 91 returns to American bookstores reflecting on the United States today. Imaginary geographies in the book by Cynthia Rimsky Yomurí (Edicola Ediciones) reviewed by Vanni Santoni.
