Bhopal: Government departments in Madhya Pradesh are not providing financial information to the Accountant General (AG) office to finalise the financial accounts for the year 2023-2024. The Principal Accountant General had written to the Chief Secretary of the state about this on August 6. On August 12, the Principal Secretary-Finance had ordered all department heads to provide the information in four days. After the information is shared by all the departments, the Finance and Appropriation Report for the year 2023-2024 can be prepared. This dispute has been going on since May this year.
In a letter sent by the Principal Secretary Finance to all the Additional Chief Secretariats, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries, it has been said that the Principal Accountant General has sought information on the notes on the finance accounts by 31 March 2024 to prepare the finance accounts for the financial year 2023-24. In a meeting held on 26 July 2024 under the chairmanship of Director Budget Madhya Pradesh, the financial advisors / finance officers posted in the departments have been directed to provide the desired information to the Principal Accountant General Gwalior within two days.
35 out of 110 did not provide information
The Principal Account General has written that due to non-receipt of information by the AG’s office, there is unnecessary delay in finalizing the finance accounts. The information should be made available immediately. Finance department officials said that there are about 110 budget control officers in about 60 departments. Many departments have more than two or three budget control officers. Out of 110 officers, about 35 have not sent the information sought by the AG.
