An unusual trial took place at the Stockholm district court on Wednesday with great secrecy. The Security Police arrested a 25-year-old woman on February 22, and a month later, the main hearing ended with charges filed for aggravated extortion. The prosecutor requested secrecy for parts of the lawsuit and preliminary investigation. The court case involves a Member of Parliament, but no further details were provided by any party involved.

According to the Security Police and the prosecutor at the National Security Unit, the politician was subjected to serious blackmail in recent months. The incident occurred after a Christmas weekend pub visit when the Member of Parliament invited two women to his overnight apartment in central Stockholm. After a payment of SEK 5,000, the situation broke down as the women demanded more money with threats, including the leak of a compromising picture.

The prosecutor’s lawsuit indicates that the Member of Parliament paid a total of approximately SEK 65,000 to the woman, which he felt compelled to pay to prevent the release of his picture. He contacted the Security Police after the demand for more money, and the woman was also charged with attempted aggravated extortion for trying to acquire another SEK 20,000.

The Member of Parliament denies any relationship with the woman and described the situation as “unpleasant.” However, he could not be reached for comment. During questioning, the woman refused to comment on whether she admitted or denied the accusations.

Behind closed doors and under great secrecy, an unusual trial took place at the Stockholm district court on Wednesday.

The process has gone quickly. On February 22, the Security Police arrested a 25-year-old woman. A month later, charges have been brought and the main hearing has ended.

The prosecutor has requested that parts of the lawsuit and the preliminary investigation be covered by secrecy.

The case is classified as aggravated extortion – but neither the prosecutor, the defense lawyer nor the plaintiff’s counsel want to give any details.

The court case concerns a Member of Parliament, which the news agency Siren was the first to report. The politician has an important position in the party organization.

According to the Security Police and the prosecutor at the National Security Unit, the politician has been subjected to serious blackmail in recent months.

After a visit to a pub during the Christmas weekend, he is said to have invited two women to his overnight apartment in central Stockholm. Both the Member of Parliament and the one woman state in questioning that they had intercourse.

In the evening, the man makes a swish payment of SEK 5,000. Here, however, the picture of the course of events falls apart. One woman claims it was the prearranged payment for intercourse. The politician claims he paid to help the woman with taxi money and rent.

In the following weeks, the contact takes a new turn. The woman wants more money and threatens, among other things, to leak a picture of the man having oral sex.

According to the prosecutor’s lawsuit the Member of Parliament has on various occasions paid a total of approximately SEK 65,000 to the woman, money which, for example, should have gone to breast augmentation. It is money that the politician says he felt compelled to pay so that his picture will not be published.

At the beginning of February, the man decides to stop sending money. Instead, he contacts the Security Police, who immediately begin a preliminary investigation.

The woman is also charged with attempted aggravated extortion as she allegedly tried to get another 20,000 kroner out.

According to the Member of Parliament, he should not have had any relationship with the woman. He expresses the situation in questioning as “unpleasant”.

DN has searched for the Member of Parliament who does not answer the phone.

During questioning, the woman did not want to comment on whether she denies or admits to the prosecutor’s accusations.
