While life has been affected in many districts of these areas of the state. People are facing problems due to heavy rains and waterlogging. Two people have died due to wall collapse in separate incidents in Jabalpur. At the same time, a bike rider was swept away while trying to cross the overflowing drain in Seoni district.
Due to continuous rain, rivers in the lower areas of Balaghat are in spate. Due to this, many low-lying areas have been waterlogged. Due to this, the district administration has ordered the closure of schools in the district for two days. At the same time, in an incident in Seoni district around 6 pm on Monday, a young man trying to cross a swollen drain on a motorcycle was swept away. The young man could not be traced till late Tuesday night. This incident took place at a drain located on Dhupraponaur Road.
The bike rider was a resident of Lalpur
Barghat police station in-charge Mohnish Vaishya said that a 36-year-old bike rider named Madan Turkar, a resident of Lalpur village, was trying to cross the overflowing drain on the Dhupara-Ponar road when he was swept away. The rescue operation is underway, but he could not be traced. In another incident in Seoni district, a man and his wife got stuck while crossing the river in Muwari Khapa village. They were forced to take shelter on a tree, but were rescued by the SDERF team. They have been identified as Suvitlal, age 45, and his wife Santoshi, age 40.
Two people died due to wall collapse at two places
Meanwhile, Tejaram Bopche, a priest of a temple in Murjhar village in Balaghat district, got trapped in the rising waters and had to stay on the roof of the temple all night, he was rescued in the morning. In Jabalpur district too, continuous rain has been going on for the last four days. Rain has increased the problems of the residents. On Tuesday, a house was damaged due to a rock fall in Hanuman Tal area of the city. Uman Tal police station in-charge Manas Dwivedi said that the rock fell on the house of Satyendra Sahu in Ganga Nagar Mohalla. The house was partially damaged, but there was no loss of life. A day earlier, two people were killed due to wall collapse at two different places. A youth died in Barela police station area, while an elderly man died in Gwarighat police station area.
