MPR Will Write to Supreme Court Leadership Regarding Decision on Lawsuit to Replace Fadel Muhammad

jpnn.comJAKARTA – MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo said that the MPR leadership had received a letter from the DPD Group Leadership Number 65/KEL.DPD/8/2024 regarding the Replacement of the MPR Leadership from the DPD RI element.

The letter confirms the results of the Supreme Court’s (MA) cassation decision which annulled the Jakarta PTTUN and Jakarta PTUN decisions regarding Fadel Muhammad’s lawsuit against DPD Decree Number 2/DPDRI/I/2022-2023 concerning the Replacement of the MPR RI Leadership from DPD RI Elements for 2022-2024.

Therefore, the DPD group leadership asked the MPR leadership to replace the deputy chairman of the MPR RI from the DPD element from Fadel Muhammad to Tansil Linrung.

“The MPR leadership agreed to immediately send a letter to the leadership of the Supreme Court to clarify whether the decision is of an executive nature. If the Supreme Court’s decision is of an executive nature, then the MPR leadership can only follow up on the letter from the DPD leadership to replace the deputy chairman of the MPR from the DPD element,” said Bamsoet after leading the MPR Leadership Meeting virtually from Jakarta, Friday (23/8/24).

The Deputy Chairmen of the MPR who were present included Ahmad Basarah, Lestari Moerdijat, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Amir Uskara and Syarif Hasan,

The 20th Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives explained that the problem began when the 2nd Plenary Session of the DPD for Session Period I of the 2022-2023 Session Year decided to replace the Deputy Speaker of the MPR from the DPD RI element, namely Fadel Muhammad, replaced by Tamsil Linrung.

The meeting was led by DPD Chairman AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.

Fadel Muhammad took legal action against the DPD Chairman LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti regarding this decision.

MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo said that the MPR leadership had received a letter from the DPD Group Leadership Number 65/KEL.DPD/8/2024 regarding the Replacement of the MPR Leadership.
