The daily indicates that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, made a working visit to Italy on Wednesday, at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani.
On this occasion, Mr. Bourita had talks with the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and the President of the Commission for European Union Policies in the Italian Senate as well as with the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Antonio Tajani, the media said.
On this occasion, an Action Plan for the implementation of the multidimensional strategic partnership was signed between Morocco and Italy, it was reported, noting that the signing of this Action Plan marks the materialization of the structuring bilateral instrument that is the Joint Declaration on the multidimensional strategic partnership between the two countries, signed on November 1, 2019, in Rabat.
According to this Action Plan, “Italy welcomes the serious and credible efforts made by Morocco to find a solution to the Sahara issue, as evidenced by Security Council Resolution 2654 of 27 October 2022”.
Referring to the Moroccan autonomy initiative, Italy also reaffirms “its support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to continue the political process aimed at reaching a just, realistic, pragmatic, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue, based on compromise in accordance with resolution 2654,” the document underlines.
In the same action plan, Italy “encourages all parties to continue their engagement in a spirit of realism and compromise, within the framework of arrangements consistent with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.”
In this Joint Declaration, which lays the foundations for a renewed and ambitious bilateral partnership, Italy welcomed “the profound reforms undertaken by Morocco over the last two decades under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and the efforts made in favor of political, economic and social development.”
Rome also welcomed the Sovereign’s efforts to promote development, stability and growth on the African continent, it added.
Also, the two countries expressed their determination to act jointly to preserve and consolidate the level of relations reached, and to commit to giving new impetus to political dialogue in all its dimensions, with a view to meeting the needs of regional and international stability and peace, underlines “The Voice”.
In the field of security, Morocco and Italy also praised the recognized professionalism of the services of the two countries and appreciated their efforts to contribute to international security, reports the publication, noting, in this regard, that they praised the role played by Rome and Rabat in the fight against terrorism, irregular migration and transnational crime.
According to the same document, the two countries, convinced that a peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts affecting the region would play a decisive role in its stability and development, “are key partners for each other in managing regional and international challenges.”
The two parties also took the opportunity to reaffirm their joint commitment to strengthening political dialogue and the integration process with the European Union, with a view to a renewed partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco, taking into account all dimensions of relations with this regional grouping.
As part of their multidimensional strategic partnership, Morocco and Italy also undertake to consult each other on issues relating to Africa and to promote mutually beneficial tripartite cooperation with African partners.
The Joint Statement also addressed the issue of peace in the Middle East, recalling that both sides call for the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region and believe, regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, that the two-state solution, with Jerusalem as the capital for both, will undoubtedly contribute to this objective and enable the peoples of the region to live in peace and security according to their legitimate aspirations.
Mr. Bourita told the press, following his meeting with Antonio Tajani, that Morocco and Italy share the will and commitment to strengthen their multidimensional partnership.
“This visit to Italy is part of the policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at diversifying and strengthening partnerships within Europe and the EU, and consolidating ties with credible European powers,” added Mr. Bourita.
In the same vein, the minister recalled that Italy, a key player in the Mediterranean, aspires to establish itself as an important player in Africa, noting that Morocco, thanks to the vision of HM the King, is an influential player on the African continent, the media indicates.
“Italy wishes to work in Africa with Morocco, which it considers a major player in the Mediterranean region, thanks to its stability and the initiatives it is undertaking, on the instructions of HM the King, in different areas,” declared the Moroccan minister.
