Mr Lekjaa, the only candidate in the running, was re-elected to his post, unanimously by the delegates present at this assembly, for a third four-year term.

The FRMF electoral commission had announced that it had received only one list of candidates for the presidency and the steering committee of the federal body, chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa.

She had indicated that “after examining Mr. Lekjaa’s candidacy file, the electoral commission specifies that it meets the necessary regulatory requirements.”

The new steering committee is composed of Hamza El Hajoui and Mohammed Joudar, respectively 1st and 2nd vice-president, in addition to Said Naciri, Mohammed Timoumi, Boubker El Ayoubi, Mouloud Ajef, Abdelaziz Bouderbala, Khalil Rouissi and Mohammed Boudrika.

During this meeting, the moral and financial reports of the FRMF were unanimously approved by the 52 delegates present, in addition to amendments concerning the statutes of the Federation, the dispute resolution chamber and the disciplinary code.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Lekjaa indicated that this is the first time that an EGM of the Federation is held at the Mohammed VI football complex, “which constitutes a source of pride for all Moroccans.”

“The year 2022 will have been an exceptional year on all levels,” he noted during this meeting which was held in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, several personalities and club delegates.

Regarding the future of the national team, Mr. Lekjaa was keen to reassure the national public.

“The Atlas Lions will honor Moroccan football in Qatar. The decision regarding the head of the technical bar of the national selection will be taken at the appropriate time,” he said.

Many challenges will now have to be met, including the organisation of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next July, he added, noting that this event will be an opportunity to give new impetus to women’s football.

The promotion of women’s football is part of the royal vision aimed at improving the position of women, he said, calling on all stakeholders to spare no effort to ensure the success of this grandiose event.

According to the president of the FRMF, the consecration of the results achieved and the African leadership of the Kingdom, both at the level of clubs and selections, must be a primary objective for the new management office.

Emphasis should also be placed on the construction of infrastructure dedicated to training and the effective implementation of the sports companies project from next season, he continued.

For his part, the representative of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Mr. Souleiman Waberi affirmed that this meeting is being held while Moroccan football is at the height of African football, with the victories of Wydad Casablanca and Renaissance Berkane in the Continental Cups and the qualification of the Atlas Lions for the Qatar-2022 World Cup and the women’s national team for the U17 World Cup.

In this regard, he welcomed the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, who laid the foundations for a win-win South-South cooperation, noting that the FRMF supports African federations, particularly in terms of training.
