Mr. Gražulis, who has not been able to run for the Seimas for 10 years, “raises” voters: gifts for elementary school children in the market

Visitors to the market pointed out that the notebooks are intended for beginners due to the size of the cells and rows.

Internet users joked that Mr. Gražulis is already raising voters who could vote for him in a decade, when he will be able to return to the parliament of our country.

Mr. Gražulis himself laughed that in ten years he might already be “underground”, that’s why he doesn’t “protect” any voters, and he doesn’t participate in the Seimas elections himself, so he doesn’t see any bribery here.

The politician explained that by handing out free notebooks, he was fulfilling his promise he made when elected to the European Parliament – to give half of his salary to people.

“I promised 50 percent. to give my MEP’s salary to people and I thought that it is a very nice occasion, September 1st, so I will congratulate the elementary school students. I published that notebook. I spent my entire salary, even more – salary and a half, without design 11 thousand. euros with cents.

I keep my promises”, – to the portal lrytas.lt said P. Gražulis.

The Central Election Commission (CEC), which is currently deciding whether to open an investigation, was also interested in information about Mr. Gražulis’s notebooks with possible election campaigning.

“The Supreme Election Commission has received several reports regarding the notebooks distributed by Petros Gražulis to voters. The commission will verify the circumstances of the incident and decide whether to open an investigation into this case,” the portal said lrytas.lt CEC representatives commented.

The CEC recently adopted a resolution that by promising to give half of his MEP salary, Mr. Gražulis is also engaged in bribing voters.

By the way, a week ago, the CEC decided that during the Ice Cream Festival held at the beginning of August, the chairman of the Labor Party and leader of the Peace Coalition list in the Seimas elections Viktoras Uspaskich bribed voters.

The Election Code prohibits directly or indirectly buying voters’ votes with gifts, services or other remuneration. It is also not permissible to promise voters any form of compensation after the election.
