Mr. Mansouri underlines in Yaoundé the solidarity position of Morocco and its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause
Yaoundé – Morocco’s support, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for the Palestinian cause is unwavering and is not affected by any change or international situation, said Friday in Yaoundé, the Kingdom’s permanent representative ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mustapha Mansouri.
The support of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of HM the King, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the Palestinian issue is unwavering and “is not affected by any international change or situation, nor by controversies and political auctions,” stressed Mr. Mansouri, during the work of the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC, specifying that this position emanates from a conviction and faith anchored in the conscience of all Moroccans. Highlighting the challenges facing the Middle East, particularly the geopolitical developments exacerbated by the tragic circumstances in the Gaza Strip, the Moroccan ambassador to Saudi Arabia affirmed that the Kingdom will continue its tireless efforts to defend the Holy Places, headed by Al Quds Acharif, to which HM the King pays particular attention, by combining political and diplomatic action and field work, through the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency, which is working to implement concrete plans and projects aimed primarily at preserving its legal status, safeguarding its civilizational identity and supporting the Maqdissie population. Mr. Mansouri recalled in this regard that HM the King defined in the speech delivered on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day, the rules of the position of the Kingdom of Morocco regarding the Middle East issue and the situation in Gaza, which reflects the particular interest of the Sovereign and His personal monitoring of developments in this region. This is, explained Mr. Mansouri, the support of the Kingdom of Morocco for constructive initiatives aimed at finding practical solutions, achieving a tangible and lasting ceasefire in the region and the need to adopt a logic of seeking a definitive solution to this conflict, to the detriment of the logic of crisis management, insisting on the launch of negotiations between the parties concerned with a view to relaunching the peace process within the framework of a two-state solution. On the other hand, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the OIC noted that the African membership of the Kingdom of Morocco encourages it to emphasize the importance of sustainable development and to strengthen joint Islamic cooperation for the benefit of the African member states of the organization and to support their economies through regional development initiatives and concrete programs to achieve the prosperity and economic development of African peoples. In this regard, the Moroccan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia cited the Atlantic Initiative aimed at enabling the countries of the Sahara and the Sahel to access the Atlantic Ocean by making available to them the capacities and experience of the Kingdom. This is a promising Moroccan initiative that will contribute to the integration of the economies of these countries, by supporting the conditions of a decent life and economic well-being, and by promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence for their peoples, he noted, considering that this initiative is a true embodiment of the theme chosen for this session. Mr. Mansouri also said that Morocco highly appreciates the call for holding an OIC donors’ conference to support refugees and displaced persons in northeastern Nigeria, the Sahel region and Lake Chad, on October 26, 2024, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This two-day session, under the theme “Development of intra-OIC transport and communication infrastructure: A major instrument to combat poverty and insecurity”, examines in particular political, economic and social issues, as well as the challenges currently facing the Muslim world.
