The minister also stressed that industry is a crucial issue for the development of Morocco and for winning the battle for employment and the creation of opportunities for young people, noting in this regard that Morocco has entered , thanks to the Royal Guidelines, in a new industrial era placed under the sign of sovereignty, aiming first and foremost to meet the needs of citizens.

He explained that industrial strategies were previously developed with the aim of seeking outlets for Moroccan products on international markets, whereas today, the challenge is to strengthen national industry and its sovereignty in order to develop Moroccan solutions and innovations in new areas as well as in traditional sectors such as the textile or agri-food industry.

In response to another oral question on “the upgrading of industrial zones”, posed by the Authenticity and Modernity group, Mr. Mezzour declared that a study relating to the examination of 116 industrial zones led, during the last five years, to the rehabilitation of an area of 900 hectares.

Since the start of the mandate of the current government, the minister recalled that 431 hectares of industrial zones have been upgraded, stressing that each year, an additional 200 to 300 hectares are affected by this work, including roads, services, electricity and water treatment.
