The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) presented the new regulations and perspective on health at work during the meeting “Promoting safe and healthy places and workplaces”, organized by the Ministry of Labor. The event was held on April 26, 2023, on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work that is commemorated every April 28.
This regulation will allow the creation of safe and healthy work environments in companies and institutions in the country. In addition, the new vision on occupational risk prevention was disseminated, within the framework of compliance with Agreement 190: “Working groups to modify the regulations on safety and health at work.”
Andrea Bersosa, Undersecretary of Promotion, Intercultural Health and Equality of the MSP, explained that “this joint work guarantees real prevention and promotion in our spaces. This necessary articulation between all State portfolios with private institutions and civil society allows us to make better decisions.”
In addition, he added that this focus on health at work promotes prevention and promotion, health promotion, timely diagnosis and adequate treatment. “It is important to highlight that the Ten-Year Health Plan and its compliance have joined efforts to change the dichotomy of health, that is, to go beyond disease to prevention.”
For his part, Patricio Donoso, Minister of Labor, pointed out that this coordinated work is carried out “to make people aware, especially private companies, of the unequivocal need to take care of their workers, take care of their health and create an environment safe and friendly.”
During the event, companies and institutions that had the best results in good safety and health practices at work and in safety management and occupational risk prevention were recognized.
For the MSP, it is essential to promote public policies that affect the determinants of health and, in turn, promote healthy practices in the workplace.
