The Zonal Coordination 7 – Health acquired 149 items of medical devices for general use for the 29 operating units of the Loja canton and Vilcabamba Basic Hospital.
The purchase was made through an electronic auction process for an amount of USD 83,005, 28 which will guarantee a 12-month supply in the different medical units.
Medical devices such as nitrile gloves, gauze, venoclysis equipment, intravenous catheters, tapes, disinfectant solution, among others, will be used in clinical laboratory services, dentistry, operating room, X-rays, first and second level procedures area of attention.
Gina Cueva, Zonal 7 coordinator, expressed that medical devices constitute a fundamental and essential component within the health system, in order to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate diseases in a safe and effective manner.
“In this way we guarantee a total supply that allows us to comply with the free service to users,” added the zonal authority.
For his part, Julio Juela, responsible for medicines and medical devices in the Loja canton, indicated that the devices are essential to strengthen services in the different health care centers. In addition, they serve directly in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of different diseases.
