This Wednesday, March 15, the Minister of Public Health, José Ruales, discussed -with the new mayors and prefects of the country- several of the inter-institutional actions established by the Organic Code of Territorial Organization, Autonomies and Decentralization (COOTAD) and that contribute to the strengthening prevention and health promotion in the territory through intervention in infrastructure and equipment; health surveillance; control and prevention strategies; mental health care; the prevention of the socioeconomic phenomenon of drugs; risk management and certification of healthy municipalities.
Within the framework of the 1st assembly of elected prefects and mayors called “Together for the Development of Ecuador”, organized by the Development Bank of Ecuador, coordinated and articulated work was proposed with various government sectors, including health, with the Autonomous Governments Decentralized (GAD) strengthening the capacities to face challenges in the territories.
The Ministry of Health team participated with an information stand addressed to the Decentralized Autonomous Governments that comprehensively addressed the determinants that influence the state of health and quality of life of the population and inter-institutional work.
For the Ministry of Public Health, it is of great importance to highlight local axes and policies for joint work with the GADs and thus maintain the commitment to promote a healthy and active community.
