In order to promote the multisector strategy for road safety education promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), the members of the Regional Road Safety Councils were summoned to report on the mechanisms that guarantee the proper functioning of traffic circulation. , through the use of rules of conduct for pedestrians and drivers.

The virtual workshop was called ‘Road Safety Actions for Basic Education Institutions 2023’, whose purpose was to inform about road safety through educational activities, provision of materials in schools, awareness campaigns on how to improve the school environment in order to to guarantee safety and promote driver education.

Authorities from the transport and education sectors, which are part of the Regional Road Safety Council, participated in the virtual meeting.

The purpose of the articulated work with regional governments is to develop safe and responsible behavior in children, promoting the correct use of safe spaces in school environments, incorporating road safety from a competency-based approach aligned with the National Curriculum for Basic Education.

Authorities from the cities of Cusco, Ica, Áncash, Apurímac, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Lambayeque, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Callao, Huánuco, La Libertad, Junín, Moquegua, Madre de Dios, San Martín, Pasco, Piura, Puno, participated in the meeting. Tacna and Ucayali.
