The Xiaolongdi Dam stores the excess water of the Yellow River, China’s second largest river.
The dams are cleaned by sand washing 20 days a year in order to regulate the highly silted Yellow River water, reducing further sedimentation in the incoming water.
The footage of the uncontrollable soil mixed with water being discharged is going viral on social media.
