The ‘digital museum’ Mudimed.it, the first virtual room on the history of medicine, has “the aim of ensuring that citizens, especially young people, approach the scientific method, helping them to understand that to tackle complex issues you need study, research and passion. We must face and contrast those who simplify and disseminate fake news, so that we can defeat fear. Research is courage, optimism and desire for knowledge, that is, everything we need especially today “. Thus Giuliano Volpe, coordinator of the Mudimed Scientific Committee and full professor at the Department of Humanities of the University of Bari, on the sidelines of the presentation of the initiative, held today in Rome at the Ministry of Culture.

Volpe says: “A selection of significant works has been made to illustrate the various sources to reconstruct the history of medicine, addressing some important themes. The first room presented today is intended as a general introduction and in the coming months we will expand the contents, involving other Italian museums “.

“To illustrate the online path, historians and academics were chosen on the basis of specific skills, but also communication experts. The committee that I am coordinating wants to make the history of medicine an essential component of that of humanity, involving the arts, history, music and poetry “, he concluded.
