Muhammad Iqbal Gwijangge, representing the Indonesian U-17 National Team players, apologized to the people of the country after Garuda Muda was beaten 1-3 by Morocco in the final Group A match of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. According to him, all the players have tried their best but have not yet won.

“We all want to win but the results say otherwise, the most important thing is that we tried. And I, on behalf of the other players, apologize to all Indonesian people. Whatever we did was the best we could. Once again, I apologize,” said Iqbal.

With these results, Morocco secured a ticket to the round of 16 after topping Group A of the 2023 U-17 World Cup with a collection of six points in three matches. They qualified together with Ecuador who collected five points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Panama in the last match.

Meanwhile, Indonesia is in third place with two points. Even though they are small, they still have a chance to advance to the round of 16 via the best third place ranking.

The condition is that South Korea (0 points) in Group E and Mexico (1 point) in Group F failed to win in their last matches against Burkina Faso and New Zealand respectively. That way, these two countries will not displace Indonesia from the standings of the best third ranked team in the 2023 U-17 World Cup, which has qualified four teams to the round of 16.
