Two of the four spillway shutters that opened today at the Mullaperiyar Dam have been closed. 2, 5 shutters closed. Currently the three and four shutters are open 30 cm apart. The volume of water carried to Tamil Nadu continues to be 2300 cubic feet. 772 cusecs of water is let out through the shutters.

Tamil Nadu has decided to open the shutters of the Mullaperiyar Dam at 8 am today due to high water levels. The water level in the dam had reached 141 feet at 5.30 am today. It was in this context that the decision was taken to open the dam.

Meanwhile, Minister Roshi Augustine said that Tamil Nadu had warned against opening the Aliyar Dam. The information was conveyed to the officer of the Disaster Management Division of the Collectorate. The minister said the water level was now below the warning level.

Isolated showers will continue in Kerala for the next two days. The hilly areas receive more rainfall.
