Multi-State Manhunt Underway for Murder Suspect David Maynard

IRONTON, Ohio – Authorities across multiple states are conducting an intensive search to apprehend David Maynard, who is wanted on a murder charge in Lawrence County, Ohio.

The pursuit for Maynard began following a distressing incident in Ironton on Friday, where police responded to a call reporting shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a grisly scene, with one individual deceased and a 39-year-old woman found tied up. Ironton Chief of Police Dan Johnson said the victim was identified as Donald Wood, Maynard’s stepfather.

In addition to the murder charge, Maynard is also wanted for kidnapping, tampering with evidence, theft of a motor vehicle, and weapons under disability, according to Chief Johnson.

Concerns heightened as Maynard was sighted in Kentucky on Saturday, prompting an extensive search effort by the Kentucky State Police. Troopers have revealed that Maynard allegedly abandoned his vehicle in Carter County and went on to abduct one woman at an Interstate-64 rest stop before swapping cars and kidnapping another woman. The first victim managed to free herself, seek help, and contact authorities, but the second victim’s identity and the location of the second vehicle remain unknown, said Trooper Shane Goodall.

Despite efforts to locate Maynard, law enforcement currently lacks information on the license plate of the vehicle he is believed to be driving. Nevertheless, troopers believe he was last seen in a dark-colored sedan.

Authorities have issued a warning to the public, urging them not to approach Maynard as he is considered to be armed and dangerous. Instead, anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is advised to call 911 or the Kentucky State Police Post 14 immediately.

The ongoing manhunt for Maynard emphasizes the seriousness of the situation and the urgency to ensure public safety. As authorities tirelessly work to bring him to justice, the community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information that may aid in the search efforts.
