The Electricity Distribution Department of Southern Salah al-Din confirmed, on Monday, that it had implemented a multi-track plan that included early preparations for the occasion of the month of Muharram and the visit of Ashura.

Distribution Director Hassan Al-Muthanna Jaber told the (INA): “The directorate made early preparations before the advent of the month of Muharram, by rehabilitating all areas that need maintenance and development operations, and 10 transformers were allocated to support the visitation ceremonies in the districts of Balad and Dujail and the areas close to these districts.”
He added, “All electrical networks in these districts have also been rehabilitated, in addition to lighting the main streets through which the Husseini processions pass.”
As for the power stations in the southern areas of the governorate, Jaber explained that “these areas need to install more stations to relieve the bottlenecks resulting from the high loads, especially in the areas of Al-Ishaqi District and Balad District.”
He pointed out that “a group of buildings are being constructed for these stations in the Al-Ishaqi district and in the Al-Duluiyah district, and work is currently underway to construct two stations in the Al-Dujayl district; for the purpose of relieving congestion.”
Regarding the decongestion projects, Jaber confirmed that, “according to the directives of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity, the first phase has been started and is nearing completion, and we will start the second phase, where many electric poles and wires have been installed, in addition to operating some stations and operating some feeders with a capacity of 11,000 kilovolts and installing 50 transformers in different areas, starting from the Al-Ishaqi district and reaching the Al-Abayji area, on the administrative borders with Baghdad Governorate, as well as installing transformers in the areas of Sayyid Gharib, Al-Dhuluiya, Balad and the areas affiliated with them.”
