The High Court said that politics has no role in the conduct of festivals or celebrations in the temple. The order came from a Devaswom bench comprising Justice Anil K Narendra and Justice PG Ajithkumar. Police Inspector Nemam had suggested that instead of using saffron color decoration in Thiruvananthapuram Major Vellayani Devi temple, the decoration should be of different colors and the district collector should have politically neutral decorations. The court’s order came in a petition filed by the temple advisory committee and devotee MS Srirajkrishnan Potti against this.
