Organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, under the slogan “Strengthening the health offer, an essential entry for reintegration”, this caravan targets around 300 prisoners from the prison local Tangier 2, in the specialties of cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, diabetology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, ENT, neurology, urology and rheumatology.
In a statement to MAP, the regional coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of detainees in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Mohamed El Mkadmi, stressed that this humanitarian initiative, organized in partnership with the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Health and social protection, the University Hospital Center (CHU), the Tangier 2 association and the Al Rahma feminine association, covers 10 medical specialties.
More than 300 inmates should benefit from this caravan in various specialties, such as dermatology, pulmonology, cardiology and vascular surgery, he noted, noting that the necessary drugs and equipment have been provided, in order to guarantee the success of this medical initiative.
For her part, Dr. Dina Oulkadi, pharmacist and president of the Tanger 2 Association, stressed that this initiative is part of the association’s regular work to provide support to people in need, particularly detainees, believing that this type of initiative makes it possible to “open the doors to citizen reconciliation with detainees, reduce the social and health burden, and contribute to improving the conditions of reintegration”.
For his part, Dr. Abdessamad Ait Brik, specialist in cardiology and vascular diseases at the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Tangier, noted that the participation of the hospital’s doctors in this humanitarian initiative responds to the call of the Mohammed VI Foundation for reintegration of prisoners, in order to provide care services to this category of society, with a view to relieving their pain and treating their illnesses.
He specified that all cases requiring interventions will be taken care of and monitored.
