Multimedia exhibition in Cologne Dock 2 |
Here Van Gogh comes alive
Köln – Its yellow sunflowers are world famous and its blue starry nights magical. Now all of Vincent van Gogh’s (1853-90) masterpieces worth millions are making guest appearances in Cologne and even come to life.
One of the most unusual exhibitions in the world is being held in the “Dock 2” event hall in Mülheim (Hafenstraße): The multimedia show is called “Van Gogh Alive” and has already captivated more than 8.5 million visitors worldwide.
What is special: There are no paintings hanging on the wall here. All motifs are projected onto large surfaces, and many even move. Stars twinkle, plants sway in the wind, a train steams on the horizon.
The visual intoxication is complemented by popular classical sounds by stars such as Erik Sartie and Georg Friedrich Handel.
Visitors experience around 3,000 image motifs in two interconnected 360-degree cinemas. There are a few chairs, but most guests (many families) sit relaxed on the floor.
The show is entertaining, meditative, but also expensive: children and young people (4-17) pay 17 euros and adults 25 euros. Family tickets cost 38 to 72 euros.
It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Until December 26th in Cologne.
