A multiple crash in which seven vehicles were involved left at least 10 dead and 57 injured on a highway in northwestern Turkey on Thursday, authorities reported.

The incident occurred in dense fog and low visibility on the northern Marmara highway in Sakarya province, about 150 kilometers from Istanbul.

Authorities opened an investigation, but Sakarya Governor Yasar Karadeniz said the accident possibly occurred when a vehicle hit a truck due to poor visibility, triggering the other rear-end crashes.
