Gunman Kills Four and Injures Four in Southwest Philadelphia Shooting

A heavily armed gunman wearing a bulletproof vest went on a shooting spree in southwest Philadelphia on Monday evening, leaving four people dead and four others injured, according to local law enforcement officials.

The police revealed that at least two of the victims were juveniles, but their current conditions remain unknown. All the victims have been rushed to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, with the two children expected to be transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for specialized care, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Authorities took a man wearing a ballistic vest into custody shortly before 8:40 p.m. They also confirmed the recovery of a rifle and handgun in the alleyway behind the 1600 block of South Frazier Street.

The incident unfolded when an officer heard gunfire in the Kingsessing neighborhood at approximately 8:30 p.m. Upon investigation, the officer discovered at least one victim in the vicinity of South 56th Street and Chester Avenue.

Multiple reports of a male armed with a rifle shooting in the area were also received by the police, according to The Inquirer. It’s worth noting that no officers discharged their firearms during the arrest.
