Mumbai: TheMumbai Indians announced the names of the two newly acquired teams in the South Africa and UAE T20 leagues. The name of the UAE team will be MI Emirates and the name of the South African T20 League team will be MI Cape Town. Both teams will be pronounced MI Cape Town and MI Emirates.

Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa stated that they have signed contracts with 30 marquee players who are going to play in the league. The players have not been released. Cricinfo reported that Jos Buttler, Liam Livingston and Jason Holder are among the players who have reached an agreement. Although there are reports that Indian players may be considered for clubs managed by Indian franchises, the BCCI has not yet taken a public stand on the matter.
BCCI is yet to take a favorable stand despite the long-standing demand that Indian men’s players be allowed to play in foreign T20 leagues. But now in South Africa and UAE, it is indicated that BCCI will give relaxation in this regard as the Indian franchises own the entire teams. Even then, due to the busy BCCI match schedule, top players may not be allowed to play in foreign leagues.
All the six teams competing in the South African T20 League have to select a 17-member squad. Five of these players can be signed before the auction. Out of the five, three should be foreign players, one South African and one uncapped South African. A team can field a maximum of four foreign players in the playing eleven.

The league matches in South Africa and UAE will be held in January next year. With the Big Bash League and Bangladesh Premier League going on at this time, it is generally assumed that there will be a lot of demand for players.
