Mumbai: Mumbai Indians made their debut in the IPL with a loss as usual. Mumbai lost by four wickets in today’s match against Delhi Capitals. After losing the toss and opting to bat, Mumbai scored 177 for five in the allotted overs. In reply, Delhi chased down the target by six wickets in 18.2 overs.
After the first defeat, the Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma, suffered another setback. Skipper Rohit Sharma was fined for a low over rate. IPL officials have demanded a fine of Rs 12 lakh. If the second offense is committed, the captain will be fined Rs 24 lakh and the other team members will be fined Rs 6 lakh each. Failure to complete the 20 overs within the allotted time will result in a ban from the match.
Lalit Yadav (48) and Akshar Patel (38) were the main contributors to Delhi’s victory. The 18th over was crucial in Delhi’s victory. Akshar and Lalith combined for 24 runs in Daniel Sams’ over. Malayalee batsman Basil Thampi took three wickets for Mumbai.
