Mumbai: To check population growth, the government is vigorously running the “Small Family, Happy Family” campaign. They are raising the slogan of ‘Hum Do and Hamare Bhi Do’ for population control. Now people are going a step further and adopting the concept of ‘we are two and we are one’ so that with the rising inflation and changing times, their children can get a good upbringing and create a better future. But, this step of the government has made no difference to a family living in Dharavi, due to which Sameer, a resident of this place, also had to bear the brunt. Because, bypassing government schemes, Sameer is living his life by adopting the concept of ‘we two and our eight’. Because of this, he had to feel betrayed when he could not find out where one of his eight children, a daughter, had gone missing.
What is the matter with eight children?
According to Dharavi Police, Sameer has 4 sons and 4 daughters. A total of 10 people including 8 children and Miya Bibi live in the family. On Sunday night, Sameer’s wife suddenly realized that their four-year-old daughter was missing. He informed this to Sameer, who had gone out of the house. Sameer hurriedly returned home and started searching for his daughter late at night in the surrounding areas. His friends also helped in this. When Sameer could not find his daughter even after searching for four-five hours, he went to Dharavi police station. By then it was morning.
The girl was not seen in the CCTV footage
Based on Sameer’s statement, Dharavi Police, understanding the seriousness of the matter, registered a case of kidnapping against unknown people in connection with the girl’s disappearance from her house. The police started scanning the CCTV footage installed in the area where Sameer lives. The police did not see the girl coming out of her house in any CCTV footage. When nearby people were also questioned, no one saw the girl in the area. On the other hand, the parents said that their daughter had run away from home. The police could not digest this. Because, the girl was only 4 years old. How could she run away with someone?
When I woke up late at night, I found out that a daughter was missing.
Despite all efforts, when the police finally did not find the girl, they decided to investigate the case afresh. Police started interrogating Sameer. During that time, everyone was shocked to hear what Sameer told the police officers. Sameer told the police that he and his family along with his children had gone from Dharavi on Saturday night to visit Haji Malang Garh in Kalyan. After wandering here and there the whole night, he returned on Sunday afternoon.
One daughter among eight children missing
He had got down at the nearby Sion railway station to go home. Since, he had walked the whole night. That’s why he was tired. His wife and children were also tired. Everyone slept after having lunch. During that time we should think that all the children are also taking rest. They should not be harassed. When the wife woke up at night, she saw that one of the eight children, a daughter, was missing. He informed this to him i.e. Sameer.
Police changed the direction of investigation
Hearing Sameer’s words, the police also shook their heads. After hearing the entire incident from Sameer, he changed the direction of his investigation. The photo of the missing girl was sent to different police stations including police groups. During this time he got information from Sion station that he had a little girl. The police team reached Sion railway station with Sameer. As soon as the girl saw her father, she hugged him. Sameer and the police team heaved a sigh of relief after finding the girl. Dharavi police said that after getting down at Sion station, Sameer left for his house in Dharavi with his wife and eight children.
girl got down due to thirst
During this time the girl, who had gone missing, felt thirsty. Without telling anyone, she went to a stall on the platform of Sion station and started drinking water there. Here, the rest of the people also drank water at a stall located a short distance away and everyone left for home. He had no idea that while drinking water, a 4-year-old daughter who was traveling with him was left behind at the station itself. Since they were tired. So I went home, had dinner and went to sleep. On the other hand, when the girl, who was separated from her family, came after drinking water, she did not find anyone close to her at the station. He didn’t even know where to go. Even after searching here and there for some time, when she could not find her parents, siblings, she started crying. Seeing the girl crying in an abandoned condition, the Railway Police took her with them and started searching for her family. Finally, after 13 hours, when the girl found her father, the Sion Railway Police also heaved a sigh of relief.
