MUMBAI: The Mumbai stock market index Sensex crossed 63,000 points for the first time and set a record. The Sensex surged 621 points to hit a fresh high of 63,303 points in the inter-hours trade. The Sensex ended the trading session up 418 points at 63,100 points. Mahindra & Mahindra gained 4 percent, Ultra Tech Cement 2 percent and Hindustan Unilever 1.9 percent. Shares of PowerCreed, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Titan, Kotak Bank, L&T and Reliance were also gainers.

IndusInt Bank, SBI, HCL Tech, ITC The included stocks were sold with a decrease in price. Similarly, the national stock market index Nifty rose 140 points to close at 18,758 points. The Nifty also surged 198 points to hit a fresh high of 18,816 points in the inter-hours trade.
