Five exhibitions will take place in the museum’s buildings in the Capital of Culture year 2025. One of the two biggest shows will be dedicated to heavyweight Munch, and Chemnitz is also hoping for a famous “Scream”.

It does not read like a success story: Edvard Munch was mentally unstable, illnesses and death in the family burdened him, unfulfilled love came along, he tormented himself with fears, and he is said to have been not averse to alcohol. Nevertheless, the Norwegian became one of the most famous painters of his time – with a special connection…
