Bayern Munich qualified for the 2023/24 Champions League semifinals after eliminating Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate on Thursday (18/4/2024). ANTARA/AFP
jpnn.com – JAKARTA – A total of four teams advanced to the semifinals of the Champions League. The four teams, namely Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, will compete for the 2023/2024 Champions League title.
Bayern and Madrid were the last two teams to win semifinal tickets after playing the second leg of the quarter-finals, Thursday morning WIB.
Munich eliminated Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate after the first leg between the two teams drew 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium on April 10. In the second leg, Joshua Kimmich became the hero of the German team’s victory thanks to his goal in the second half.
Madrid followed Bayern into the semifinals after winning on penalties 4-3 from Manchester City, after 120 minutes of playing a 1-1 draw. In the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu on April 10, Madrid and City drew 3-3. Meanwhile, PSG had already qualified for the semifinals after eliminating Barcelona with an aggregate of 6-4.
The French club lost 2-3 in the first leg before recovering to win 4-1 at home to the Blaugrana.
Dortmund confirmed their semifinal ticket after beating Atletico Madrid 5-4 on aggregate.
The Bundesliga club narrowly lost 1-2 in the first leg on April 11, but came back to win 4-2 when they hosted Atletico in the second leg.
In the semifinals, Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain will meet Borussia Dortmund. The first leg of the semifinals is scheduled for April 30, while the second leg is on May 7. (antara/jpnn)
