In addition to municipal tax increases, three regions – Örebro, Stockholm, and Dalarna – will also raise their regional tax rates in 2024. Örebro has the biggest increase at 75 öre, while the other regions will maintain their current tax rates.

The municipal tax rate in Österåker will also remain the lowest in the country, making it the municipality with the lowest total tax rate for the sixth year running.

Overall, the total tax base increased by 5.8 percent between the tax years 2021 and 2022, with only one municipality experiencing a decrease in tax base.

In addition to the changes in taxes, the average funeral fee for 2024 is increasing overall, with specific rates varying depending on whether funeral operations are managed by the Church of Sweden or by the municipality.

These changes in taxes and fees highlight the shifting landscape of local and regional finances in Sweden, impacting residents and businesses across the country.
