The regional council has started the process to propose May 4, 2025 as the date for the elections for the Renewal of mayors and municipal councils of the Region with a possible run-off on Sunday 18 May 2025. The council would have indicated 4 May because 11 May coincides with the Alpine gathering in Biella.
Voting on May 18th would have led to a runoff during the June 1st long weekend. The same thing would happen if the date were assumed to be May 25th, because the runoff would then be scheduled for June 8th, which in Alto Adige coincides with the long weekend for the Pentecost holiday. “We believe that this could be the best date,” explained the President of the Region, Arno Kompatscher – considering not only the importance of avoiding overlaps with significant events, but also to ensure maximum citizen participation in the vote”.
