With more than 90 percent of the population of the Muisne Canton engaged in artisanal fishing activities, it is necessary to lay the foundations that allow these organizations to have comprehensive and orderly growth.
Muisne, being a canton dedicated in a large percentage to fishing activity, has legally formed organizations to be able to work daily, as well as those who work, but independently, without being part of any organization that represents them or that gives them benefits in their work, to promote favorable alternatives for fishermen, the Development and Productivity Directorate of the Municipal GAD of Muisne, in coordination with the Secretary of Fisheries Resources, who through their technicians provided details of the steps to follow for the legal constitution to the people who must be registered in a group with their documents in order, were in charge of socializing issues related to legalization and benefits when an organization is properly structured.
There are currently 10 legally constituted organizations, which are established in the urban area of this canton, while in parishes such as Chamanga, Galera, Quingue and Sálima, information has been collected to group more fishermen’s organizations that have spaces in institutions or international organizations that financially support projects that benefit those who carry out this work at sea.
According to the Economist, Victor Estupiñán Piloso, Director of Development and Productivity of the Municipality of Muisne, it is hoped that at least 30 fishermen’s organizations will be registered in the coming months.
Those who wish to legalize their groups must submit a request to the Municipal Development and Productivity Department, stating in this document that said group is made up of a minimum of 12 members, also attaching copies of their respective personal documents, email addresses and telephone numbers. This information will then be passed on to the Secretary of Fisheries Resources who will continue with the respective process.
