Almost 11% of hospitalized patients with coronavirus are in serious condition, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said at a meeting of the coordinating council for combating coronavirus infection. In total, according to the minister, 268,500 patients have been hospitalized in Russia.
“Today there are 268,500 hospitalized patients, an increase of 5.3% over the week. In the structure of hospitalized 11% of patients are patients in serious condition, ”the minister said. According to him, a steady increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Russia has been going on for more than a month. Currently, the number of infected people who receive medical care exceeds 1.3 million people.
The number of hospital beds for patients with coronavirus increased by 6% over the week and reached 292,000, Murashko said. “In response to the rapid increase in the number of new patients, we are forced to intensively expand the bed capacity. In the regions, 292 thousand beds have been deployed, which is 6% more than a week earlier, ”he said. The minister stressed that it is necessary to increase the bed capacity in 13 regions of Russia. Over the past day, 36,446 cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Russia. On October 26, an anti-record for mortality from coronavirus was set – 1106 cases per day. On October 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree introducing a non-working day regime in Russia from October 30 to November 7 due to an increase in the incidence of coronavirus. Regional authorities may start such a regime earlier and extend it after November 7, depending on the situation in the region.
