The current wave of coronavirus in Russia is spreading faster than the previous ones, said the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko. Currently, 53% of the adult population of the Russian Federation is vaccinated against COVID-19, and 4.5 million Russians have already been re-vaccinated. The number of cases after vaccination does not exceed 3-4%, the minister added.

“The latest wave is spreading significantly faster among the population. The complication phase also develops much faster than during the circulation of the Wuhan strain, so the system of medical care has undergone certain changes, ”said Mr. Murashko at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection.

The minister noted that to date, more than 62 million people have already been vaccinated with the first component of the coronavirus vaccine. “This is 53%, but we must remember that … in connection with the spread of a new strain, it also requires revaccination to ensure a high level of antibodies,” he said.

Hospitalized, according to him, now 258 thousand people. “30 thousand are in serious condition, 7 thousand patients are on artificial ventilation … I personally have not seen a single vaccinated person in intensive care,” added Mikhail Murashko.

On the eve, Mr. Murashko said that the days off made it possible to reverse the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia. According to him, during this period, 3.7 million people were vaccinated in the country. The minister also said that last week, for the first time in two months, the growth of patients under the supervision of doctors slowed down.
