Early last Wednesday, two people were brutally shot in a bar located in Mantenópolis, i Brazil.

The victims were identified as Laila Ventura de Oliveira, 30 years old, and José Maria Junior Vieira, 33 years old. The two were in the bar when the attacker appeared.
According to witnesses and security recordings, the murderer came with a teenager, who would be his son. The gunman, dressed in a black shirt and cap, tried to convince the teenager to commit the crimes, but the young man fled the scene in fear.
Laila Ventura, dressed in a pink sweater, confronted the attacker at the door of the establishment. “Who are you going to shoot, brother? Shoot there, my face is here, shoot.”
The attacker’s gun went off on several attempts, but Ventura, unfortunately, did not move away or try to defend herself, apparently determined that the man would not go beyond the threats. Eventually, the attacker managed to get his weapon ready and point blank range, ending Ventura’s life.

A killer has been identified
After murdering Ventura, the criminal entered the bar and, out of camera range, shot again, killing José María Junior Vieira.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found Vieira already dead, and Ventura still breathing. However, she died shortly after being transferred to a health centre.
The murderer was identified as João Barbosa Filho, who is still a fugitive. Police released a photo of the subject and asked for the public’s help in locating him.
Commissioner Celina Cruz, who was in charge of the case, reported that the victims were a couple and that the double homicide would be the result of a previous confrontation.
“We started investigations and collected statements from witnesses. They said that the suspect and the victims fought in the bar where they were and that is why the murders happened,” Cruz told local media A Gazeta.
